The must have LBD...Dress to Impress at your Christmas Party

Did you know, there is only 5 Saturdays until Christmas? Scary, right?

We are definitely well and truly into the festive season, which means it's time to plan your work party outfit, so you'll be ready for the occasion.

My Christmas party is coming up this weekend and I thought there is no better time, then now, to plan my outfit.

When it comes to work Christmas parties, one thing to remember is, it's your WORK Christmas party. Which means you still need to dress and act in a sophisticated and professional manner. There are definitely some outfits that should not be worn, while you're sipping champagne with your Boss' Boss' Boss.

First thing you need to consider, when dressing for your party, is the type of event. If it's a day time event, you can wear a simple dress and low heels. For an evening event, opt for a cocktail dress.

My favourite quote is "You can never be over dressed. What's the worst case scenario? You're the best dressed in the room!" So my motto is, 'If in doubt, always overdress'.

And there is nothing better then the trusty little black dress, to get you through the Christmas season.

The L.B.D. is the perfect 'blank canvas'. Which means you can add colourful accessories, statement jewels and beautiful evening clutches. You can style your L.B.D for any occasion.

If it's a more formal event, add some sparkling evening sandals and a statement clutch. If it's a lunch time event, style your L.B.D with casual block heels and a basic handbag. If you are feeling festive, you can add your red and green accessories for a Christmas look.

I thought I would compile a list of my top 4 under $400 L.B.D picks for the festive season.

1. Under $100 I love this black contrast dress by Zara. The leather detailing makes this more of a statement dress. The cut is elegant and feminine, while still remaining appropriate. It's available on the Zara website for $79.90 USD, which converts to just over $90 AUD. The perfect dress for any festive occasion.

2. Under $300 What I love most about this Review dress, is the lace. Coming in just under $290, the lace adds luxury and glamour to the basic L.B.D. You can add your statement clutch and evening shoes and you'll have an ensemble, worthy for the red carpet.

3. Under $400 My L.B.D choice of the season is this V neck, A-line dress by Cue. I love how elegant and formal this dress is. The A-line shape, is feminine and flattering on most body shapes. But my favourite feature of the dress, is the beautiful organza panelling from the bodice. This makes such a bold statement. Style this one, with elegant heels for a classy look.

This Cue dress is a splurge at $359 but it is totally worth it!

I couldn't resist adding this 'Wildcard' dress by Camilla and Marc. This beautiful L.B.D. is $399. I love the classic shift style shape of the dress. The fabric is beautiful and flattering, the way it drapes on the body. The sheer detailing at the top of the dress makes it more interesting and elegant for a work Christmas party.

And finally my Christmas Party outfit is this L.B.D by Zimmerman. I'll be styling this with my Samantha Wills statement clutch and strappy Nine West Sari heels.

Another thing to remember is, have fun! Christmas parties are a great way to unwind and relax from all the hard work over the passed year. It's also a great occasion, for people to see you, outside of your work clothes. So, add lots of sparkle and step into a pair of skyscraper heels, and have yourself a merry little evening.
