Shoe of the Week

Sometimes you may not be looking for shoes, or even in the mood for shoe shopping (which doesn't happen often!) and they just catch your eye. Even in the unlikely event, you can find shoes you love.

My Shoe of the Week is 'Prelude' by Siren shoes.

I bought these shoes on my recent trip to Adelaide. I was walking through Rundle Mall with my family, when I discovered them. It was love at first sight.

It was a cold and rainy day in Rundle Mall and it was the bright yellow, patent that caught my attention. It was nice to see something colourful and bright for the Winter season.

I love shoe shopping. If I am having a bad day, I know shoe shopping will always cheer me up. When I stepped my feet into these shoe, I felt happy... I felt confident, excited, feminine and stylish. That feeling, never gets old!

Wearing: Sass and Bide singlet / Country Road Jeans and Tony Bianco sunglasses

I love the 11cm metallic heel. It's a great height for elongating my silhouette without being too high. They are extremely comfortable and easy to walk in.

These shoes are a great style for dressing up, any Autumn/Winter outfit.

I love the contrast between the materials and colours on the shoes. I love the black suede pointed toe, fading into off white mesh and settling on yellow patent leather. It is definitely a style that will turn heads this Winter season.

These shoes are a classic style and shape, which means they will be extremely versatile. They look great with skinny jeans for a more casual look, but they can also be dressed up with skirts and dresses.

I am head over heels in love with these shoes.

Shoe of the Week #10

My shoe of the week is 'Amp' in blood orange, by Siren shoes.

I discovered Siren shoes late into my sole obsession. I must have been living under a rock for some time! But, then I found them. And, can I just say... amazing shoes!

Wearing: Cue dress and Samantha Wills jewellery

I was doing some web surfing and decided to check out the new season shoes, on the Siren website. When I spotted these shoes, I knew they had to be mine. They are incredible.

What caught my attention most, was the height of the heel. The 14cm heel provides me with a challenge, which I greedily accepted! I have many different heel heights but I think this is by far, the tallest heels in my wardrobe. And... I can walk in them!

I feel glamorous when I step my feet into these shoes. They make me so much taller. It's nice to see the world at 185cm, for a change! They also give me legs, to be proud of.

The platform is an added feature which aids in the comfort of the heel, by absorbing some of the height. The platform also adds extra support under the balls of the feet, while still maintaining the illusion of skyscraper heels.

I also love the colour of the shoe. It is perfect for the summer months to brighten up your wardrobe. The black and white accents on the shoes, provide a nice contrast against the coral and makes the style unique.

Another amazing feature on these shoes is the t-bar strap. This makes the style incredibly feminine and will be sure to turn heads. These shoes go great with dresses, skirts, shorts and jeans, which makes them versatile... another positive!

I was surprised by how comfortable these shoes were. The 14cm heel is very structured and supportive and there is added cushioning in the sole of the shoes. This helps to relieve some of the pressure from your feet.

Once I bought these shoes, Siren released them in even more colours, including purple, which is my all time favourite colour. I am still yet to find a purple shoe that I love. These may need to be my next purchase!

The Stiletto

"Stiletto, I look at it more as an attitude as opposed to a high-heeled shoe." - Lita Ford

My ultimate weakness and favourite heel type of all.

A stiletto (meaning ‘dagger’ in Italian) is a long, thin tapering heel, with a diameter of less than 1cm at the base. A stiletto heel can range from 2 and a half centimetres to a whopping 30 centimetres in height (Lady Gaga anyone?).

The term ‘stiletto’ can also be used to describe a style of shoe rather than the heel type. A stiletto shoe is a high heel pump, with a long thin heel and usually a pointed toe.

High heels have been around for many centuries and can even be dated back to the Renaissance. The high heel shoes were a symbol of wealth and status but now they are a staple accessory in most wardrobes.

The invention of the stiletto still remains a mystery; however, shoe designers Roger Vivier and Salvatore Ferragamo are usually credited with the creation of the heel.

What I love most about the stiletto is its femininity. They are extremely stylish and can glam up any outfit. They also do wonders for my confidence and self esteem.

There are many benefits of wearing stiletto heels. They make your legs appear slimmer and longer, they define your calf muscles and can even make your butt appear firmer. They also extend your silhouette and activate your core muscles.

Over the years, many designers, such as Manolo Blahnik and Christian Louboutin, have helped shape and develop the stiletto into what it is today. A piece of art and a luxury to wear.

Shoe of the Week #5

My shoe of the week is 'Esther' by Siren.

I have to admit, this shoe was an impulse purchase. I was browsing the sale shoes when I stumbled upon this style. This style definitely caught my attention but it was the sale price that sold me. $49.95 for a pair of suede platform high heels... Who could say no?

Aside from the price, I like the colour of these shoes. They are a great colour for spring and summer. They look great with neutral outfits as a colour accent or as a contrast with other spring colours.

The heel of the shoe is also very different. I own many chunky heeled shoes, but this is my first square based heel. The height of the heel is great. For me, the higher the better! The platform makes the style more comfortable to wear for longer periods of time.

The ankle strap is also very feminine, flirty and fun to wear! This style would be the perfect heel to wear for a Sunday afternoon with the girls!

I am definitely glad I bought this style. I practically saved money buying them!! :P
